BREAKING NEWS:
What’s causing your erectile dysfunction?

What is causing your erectile dysfunction will depend, largely, on what age group you happen to fall in to. As a rough guide though, if you are aged forty years or younger, the chances are 75% or better that your erectile problem has a strong psychogenic element to it. This is what we call Performance Anxiety.

(1) Performance Anxiety. This is the most common cause for a man failing to achieve or sustain an erection of sufficient quality to satisfy the needs of either party engaged in sexual activity. Have you ever found yourself ‘watching’ yourself as you begin intimacies with your partner? Have you ever wondered about the size of your penis and found yourself worrying if it might last? These are classical examples of negative thoughts that block the flow of pleasurable arousal and desire that leads to an erection. It is NOT your fault that this is happening. It is NOT your partner’s fault either. Nor is it ‘just in the mind’. No, it is all too real and it takes time and patience to cure. Sometimes the use of a medication, taken for a few weeks, can help return your confidence and forget about watching yourself trying to perform. Other than that, pleasuring, without the challenge of intercourse for a few weeks, is the way forward. This takes the cooperation of a partner in a steady relationship. It is not an option in a one night stand scenario.

On the other side of this coin, and again as a rough guide only, if you are aged fifty or older the chances are 75% or greater that your erectile dysfunction will have a strong physiological element to it. The most common physiological cause of ED is arteriosclerosis.

(2) Arteriosclerosis. This means the narrowing of the blood vessels to your penis preventing the flow of sufficient blood to bring about an erection. Typically, it affects older men and often it will have other manifestations like coronary artery disease or angina pectoris. It can usually be managed with specifically targeted medications but occasionally the addition of Testosterone Replacement Therapy or penis injection may have to be considered.

(3) Medications and Drugs. All illicit drugs like the opiates, cannabis and cocaine can all lead to erectile dysfunction. Alcohol and nicotine too, can contribute to ED. In addition to these many prescription medications like the beta-blockers, H2 antagonists but most particularly the newer anti-depressants and antipsychotics  can quickly lead to the development of erectile dysfunction. The solution to this is to discontinue all such drugs and medications. If this can’t be done then penis injection may be the only solution.

(4) Any Chronic Illness. Diabetes type 1 or 2, MS(Multiple Sclerosis), rheumatoid arthritis, Parkinson’s Disease and so on can lead to the development of ED. The solution here will take some working out with a specialist, but Testosterone Replacement Therapy again may have a role to play.

(5) History of Prostate Surgery. Surgery for BPH(Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) or so-called TURPS, prostatectomy for cancer or any aggressive pelvic surgery can give rise to erectile dysfunction. Again, the solution here will require some expert intervention but may well involve penis injection with Caverject or some such.

How to Increase Libido and Correct Impotence Naturally

Lately it has become more and more acceptable to treat libido and correct impotence naturally. Methods that probably date back to times before medical devices and prescription medicines were used are now being used again.

Some of the ways you can improve your ability to become sexually aroused and get an erection involve the use of everyday dieting, exercise routines, and herbal supplements.

View the next section to learn more about practical and natural ways to increase your sex drive.

Practical Solutions

One of the easiest ways to address impotence as you increase libido, is to get your blood pumping by participating in aerobic exercise. You can do this while becoming involved in your favourite sport or you can do this while taking a high-impact aerobics class. Jogging every morning may help too.

The idea behind using exercise to help you become more sexually aroused involves the way your blood flows to every area of your body. Of course, if you haven’t already guessed, one of the locations where blood flow increases during exercise is to your most prized member: your penis.

This is what helps you get an erection without using any prescription drug, or even without taking an over-the-counter herb. However, if you need a little “boost” it would help rather than hurt if you took the right herbal formula that is made up of aphrodisiac substances such as the following: ginseng, horny goatweed, L-arginine, Fo-Ti, Maca, Yohimbe, or Muira Pauma.

Note that the above-mentioned list of herbs/natural resources is not at all an exhaustive list. There are many more plant sources and natural proteins that can help a man. Other supplements a man takes might also include a variety of vitamins and minerals.

Along with the use of herbs, a balanced diet that includes foods from all categories helps. You should especially pay attention to how much fruits and vegetables you consume because these contain many of the substances (vitamins and minerals) you need to help you “get it up” and “get it on.”

Of course, when you eat the right types of lean meats and/or take the right protein supplements it can provide sources of amino acids that can lead to increased energy and stamina. This leads to longer, harder erections.

Another way to increase libido naturally would be to use a variety of pumps or vacuums. These are designed to help increase the blood flow to your penis.

 Aphrodisiac Foods

Of course, there is the list of foods that you may or may not yet have heard about that help you increase your libido and at the same time get rid of impotence. Some of these actually help both males and females and they include the following: chocolate, whipped cream, raw (or maybe even cooked) oysters, strawberries (or other fruit), and wine (in moderation).

Bananas, honey, and even asparagus are known to help get you in the mood. The enhancement of sex drive and ability that comes with eating these substances is often because of the texture. However, it is also sometimes because of the chemical makeup of certain food substances that people become more sexually aroused.
